Going into 2025 I have a lot of optimism and anticipation for not only for the Smartphone market, but also for Tech and computing in general. Quantum computing, and looming human singularity, are now closer than ever, so close we can almost visualize the actuality of what living in a fully digital society as a digitized humanoid might actually be like. With exponential quantum achievements sure to manifest more and more rapidly over the next few years, I am almost finding it impossible to grasp what an exponential increase in computing potential, and the technological working capacity of our devices will truly be. As exciting as such computational achievements are, and in spite of the fact it will launch our species into the next age of mankind, if our current top notch tech costs are anything of an indicator for what these newfound powers will blanket over us, we should probably all start playing the lottery habitually now, so we can be prepared.
This brings me to my actual point of this monologue article; Apple conflated the premium smartphone market with the Release of the iPhone 13, shooting right through (and then, quickly beyond) the unfathomable, never before seen, $1,000 Phone price point. Just as I gawked and sneered at this narcissistic, grandiose, ego marketing push by Apple, then, I do so even more now, even as this is being written, I believe the concept of a one thousand dollar or more smartphone, is wildly unnecessary and absolutely inflated. This is easily proven by doing minimal research. It costs Apple $464.00 USD to produce a top of the line IPhone 14 Pro Max which in its most stripped down 128GB bare minimum model costs consumers $1,099.00 USD + Tax and Carrier Fees to purchase. The IPhone 15 Pro Max XL is well past the one thousand dollar threshold. In competitive fashion, not to be outdone or overshadowed Samsung quickly leveled with similar Price points for the S24 Ultra (we won’t even begin discussing the absolutely egregious pricing surrounding the ZFold and the Galaxy Fold Phone models, It’s disgusting)$
$Now with this in mind, I can’t help but wonder, how much of this is actual hardware and engineering value, and how much is simply monopolizing and inflating the profit margin and increasing the perceived “luxury” or clout of these brands and devices? Is their hardware so good and so exclusive that it’s more than justified to pay such exorbitant retail costs for a device we were wary to pay more than 4 or 5 hundred dollars for just a couple of years ago?$
$Hardly. In fact most of these brands use off the shelf technology and hardware manufactured by their closest market competitors. Sony camera sensors, Samsung camera software, Qualcomm chips, TSC circuit boards and components throughout…$
$So I say this, in closure…with a monumental year ahead of us, for technology, in 2025, don’t always jump at buying the most expensive and hyped up, market saturated devices, before doing a little research … This January is sure to bring the next generation of the Samsung Galaxy, the S25….and frankly, I think it’s going to be a legit powerful device, but I don’t think it’s going to really do an additional $500 worth of things I want or need it to do, than the Red Magic 10, or the Nubia Z70. For almost half the starting price, you can get a way cooler, unique, looking device, with equal actual computing power (w/ just a lesser camera, as Samsung focuses more on the camera aspects) while having to dish out substantially less money to acquire equal clout. Being born in 1987, I am still mentally roadblocked when it comes to these outrageous prices I see around me now, EVERYWHERE, and that especially goes for phones…I don’t think I still have the ability to truly accept the reality that is a 500 dollar or 1000 dollar phone…it’s al lst like a mirage or a bad joke…but it’s still a reality even when I’m awake…so I’m slowly beginning to accept it, but I still don’t have to like it. I don’t believe the hardware or the manufacturing costs reflect fairly in the price…it’s a massive experiment by these brands to test the waters and see just exactly what they can box us in with, and force us to pay for their devices. It’s a massive ripoff in my opinion, and a giant bullying tactic to consumers, espc in the US.$
$That’s why I am such an avid, and loyal Red Magic brAnd supporter. They are fabulously designed, flagship powerful, and consumer friendly across the spectrum of their devices. They allow those of us, in the know, to compete and succeed on the gaming battlefield, and in our social circles. I haven’t met somebody yet, who isn’t impressed or envious and inquisitive about the Red Magic devices I have. I don’t have the Red Magic 10 Pro, however, and my Pixel 8 is getting archaic … so, maybe the @HeyupTeam can help me out with that with an opportunity to experience and promote the RM 10, with this last round of 2024 testing (😎😎😎😎💯💯👍👍🥱🤔😁) anyways, regardless, I am putting it on blast to all willing to listen…Don’t jump on the Apple Boat, of the Galaxy train…don’t find yourself taking out a loan or a second mortgage just to get a new phone, at least not until you check out Red Magic, and parent brand Nubia, for much much less of a price point, with all pay the entire equal hardware capabilities or bette, a much more aesthetically impressive outer shell…these brands are simply much more consumer friendly, and equally impressive!$
