I’ve just submitted my application for the Next-Gen Mobile Power Tryout and I’m excited to join the discussion.
If I get selected, this would actually be my first official review project. I’ve tested devices casually for a while, but this would be the first time I break things down properly and share it with a wider audience. I’m ready to go all-in, especially since in Uganda people get bombarded with recycled models, confused pricing and phones that look good on paper but act shy in real life.
And since the two phones in this tryout are totally different personalities, I’d be checking them out in my own style:
🔥 REDMAGIC 11 Pro – the “let’s see if you can survive my gaming sessions” test
I’m talking long gameplay marathons, pushing the chipset till it starts questioning its life choices, tracking heat like a detective, and seeing how fast that battery panics. I’ll also be checking touch response, haptics, and whether the high refresh rate actually behaves or just acts dramatic for screenshots.
📸 nubia Z80 Ultra – the “show me you’re a real flagship, not a poster child” test
Low light, bright light, weird light… I’m putting the camera through all of it. Color consistency across lenses, portrait depth, street shots, and video stability while moving around like a normal chaotic teenager. Plus battery life, everyday smoothness, and whether it actually holds its own against the overpriced flagships we get in Uganda.
