Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra – Real-World Review

After using the S22 Ultra for a good amount of time, here’s the blunt truth: it’s still one of the strongest phones Samsung ever made, even in 2025. Not perfect, but it holds up better than most devices its age.

Display – still a beast
The screen is the first thing that makes you forget this phone isn’t brand-new anymore. Bright, sharp, smooth — classic Samsung quality. Watching content or gaming on it is top-tier. No complaints here.

Performance – more than enough
With the Snapdragon version, performance is solid. Apps open fast, multitasking is smooth, and gaming is still excellent. The only people who’ll say it’s “slow” are the ones chasing numbers instead of actually using the device.

Battery – good, not amazing
Battery depends on how you use it. Heavy screen-on time kills it faster, and the battery health goes down after a year or two. On a good day, it lasts. On a bad day, you’ll be looking for a charger earlier than you want. Not terrible, not great — just okay.

Cameras – still flagship level
Samsung nailed the camera system here. The zoom lens is crazy good, low light is strong, and video quality is reliable. Even newer phones don’t crush it in real-life use. If you take photos a lot, this phone still delivers.

S Pen – either you need it or you don’t
If you use the S Pen, it’s fantastic. If not, it’s basically a bonus feature that stays inside the phone forever. Simple as that.

Build – premium but heavy
The phone feels expensive, looks expensive, and is heavy as hell. That’s the trade-off for all the features packed inside.

Software – Samsung doing Samsung
Still getting updates, still feels modern. One UI runs smooth and consistent. No surprises.

The Verdict
The S22 Ultra doesn’t feel old. It feels like a flagship with a couple of dents from time — nothing major. If you already own it, there’s no real reason to upgrade unless you want something new just for the sake of it. And if you’re thinking of buying it second-hand, it’s still a smart choice as long as the battery is in good condition.

But what about the processor, is it good cos in countries outside of the US, we get the exynos variant like in South Africa for example, I just want to know if it’s the snapdragon variant or the exynos one and how it holds up in productivity

Good question. Mine is the Snapdragon variant. That’s the one most people talk about when they say the S22 Ultra still performs well.

The Exynos version is a different story. It’s not “bad,” but it’s noticeably weaker, especially in heavy tasks. Productivity apps run fine, but you’ll see more heat and slightly worse battery life compared to Snapdragon. GPU-heavy stuff (gaming, rendering, editing) also performs lower on Exynos.

If you’re just doing normal daily tasks, notes, multitasking apps, emails, browsing, etc., the Exynos model can still handle it without problems. But if you’re expecting the same performance people report from the Snapdragon version, it’s not 1:1 — Exynos falls behind in benchmarks and real use.

So yeah, the processor matters. The phone is still usable, but the Snapdragon version is definitely the stronger one.
