jayjay31 The way people (and sometimes I) see it, brands keep pushing the same thing every year (bigger sensor, huge zoom, AI enhancement for perfect shots.) But when you look and go across the specs, a lot of it barely changes how your photos actually turn out.
Most of the time, the phone takes a pretty average shot, and then the AI comes in to improve skin tone, boost shadows, sharpen everything, and basically repaint the image. It looks good, but it’s not necessarily better or more natural.
Meanwhile, the real stuff (bigger optics, stronger stabilization, sensors that truly capture more light) evolves way slower because that’s actual engineering, not just glazing software every 12 months.
So yeah, I think there is innovation, but a lot of it is dressed up, or the industry exaggerates it. Flashy features are presented on advertisements, but sometimes it feels like there are no improvements you really feel when you just pull out your phone and take a picture.
