Hi Heyup Team & Fellow Community Members,
I’ve been with and in the Heyup Community since October 21st, 2025 and after spending a lot of time engaging in the Heyup Community, I’ve put together a refined list of improvements that could significantly upgrade user experience, streamline moderation, strengthen tester management, and modernise the entire platform.
These are feature requests, and a full blueprint for a more polished, reliable, and future ready Heyup ecosystem. I like to call it the Heyup Community 2.0.
In Summary
- Draft Saving, Hidden Posts & Scheduled Posting
- Improved Editing Tools
- Built-In Dark Mode for Website & App
- Animated & Smarter Notifications
- Modernised User Badges

- Improved New User Onboarding Flow
- Official Heyup App for iOS & Android
- Tag Management Improvements
- Ability to Delete Own Discussions & Posts
- Final Question & Did I Miss Anything?
This is a strong, well-rounded roadmap Heyup can realistically implement.
1. Draft Saving & Scheduled Posting
We would like the ability to:
- Save drafts for reviews, discussions, and long posts
- Hide or unpublish posts temporarily
- Schedule posts to go live automatically for specific dates and times
This will help content creators and community contributors maintain consistency and quality.
2. Improved Editing Tools
The current editor is functional but limited. A more user friendly editor should include:
Rich text formatting
Inline images + drag & drop upload
Quote blocks, dividers, headings
Hyperlink previews
More font choices (NEW)
This will make discussions more readable and visually attractive.
3. Built-In Dark Mode
A simple but impactful feature. Dark mode is an important quality of life feature. Many users browse at night; dark mode reduces eye strain and modernises the interface.
4. Animated & Smarter Notifications
Notifications should:
Be animated or visually highlighted
Clearly separate “mentions,” “replies,” “likes,” and “system alerts”
Optionally allow sound/vibration via app
Easier to track and manage
Better notifications = better user retention and community engagement.
5. Modernised User Badges
Badges feel outdated and needs an update, more polished design. A modern, clean design with clearer labels would:
Enhance user motivation
Make achievements feel earned
Give the community a professional look
Badges can be round, square, or icon only
When hovered, a tooltip appears explaining what the badge means
This keeps the UI clean while providing clarity.
6. Upgraded User Profiles to Stronger User Profile System
Profiles currently lack depth and is too basic. A richer profile system could include:
- A proper bio section
- Social links (optional)
- About Me section with at least 1500 characters allowed
- Interests or tech specialties section, with manual input and not a drop-down menu
- A clear Activity overview
- Banner image for personalisation
This builds identity and community culture.
7. Reward Points Clarity
Right now, Reward Points feel confusing and incomplete. Users need answers to:
- What do the points represent?
- How are they earned?
- What can they be used for?
- When can they be redeemed?
- Are they linked to testing opportunities?
The section including the How are they earned exists, but it needs proper written clarity added, within the Reward Points section.
8. My Orders Section This needs Clarify or Remove It
Currently, it appears empty and unused. If testers don’t order anything, then:
- Remove it or Clarify its purpose and rename it to something meaningful.
Clean UI = better user experience.
9. Improved New User Onboarding Flow
To protect the community, ensure consistency, and support Mods and Admins, new users should go through a structured onboarding process. New Suggested Flow for Onboarding New Community Members
User registers
The system automatically records the IP address
Helps reduce VPN abuse
Reduces fake accounts
Makes moderation easier
User verifies email
On first login, user must complete
Introduce Yourself
Read Guidelines & Accept T&Cs
User is taken to their profile
They now must
Set a proper username final & unchangeable
Fill out basic profile info
Confirmation
Welcome to Heyup! You can now participate, comment, and create discussions. Please remember to follow the Rules and Guidelines, as mentioned within the Terms & Conditions.
No participation before completing onboarding steps. This eliminates the issues with new users that create multiple accounts with different email addresses, using VPN. using nicknames that do not make any sense or easy to read, and that are deemed inappropriate and this will actually keep the Heyup Community safe and give all known members a fair chance at applying to become a tester.
10. Official Heyup App for iOS & Android
A mobile app would be a game changer. Most users browse on the go, and not everyone has the luxury to be on their desktops and notebooks. The app should include:
- Clean UI with fast performance
- Push notifications
- Thread & discussion management
- Easy built in messaging system in App & Web
- Easy tester communication
- Dark Mode toggle built into the app (NEW)
- Feedback Section within the User Profile to update the Heyup Tech Team for fixing glitches and any issues
This step alone can multiply community engagement and onboard serious new members.
11. Tag Management Improvements
Heyup already has tags, but we need the following:
- Ability for users to request new tags if the needed ones don’t exist
- Moderators can approve and reject tag suggestions with a valid reason
- Cleaner tag categories
This helps organise discussions and prevents irrelevant tagging.
12. Ability to Delete Own Discussions & Posts
Users should have control over their content. Allowing them to delete their own:
- Discussions
- Replies
- Comments
This reduces clutter and supports respectful community management, and less burden on Mods and Admins, this also avoids any misunderstandings that could happen.
So, when it comes to new features for our Heyup Community 2.0, the question here is; Did I miss anything?
These changes would modernise the Heyup platform, strengthen the testing ecosystem, and offer a better experience for everyone, especially for our MODS and Admins, as well as securing the Heyup Community with genuine members.
