I’ve been using the OnePlus 15R for a bit over a week now, including three full days on a trip in Brussels as my only phone and I have to say, this thing surprised me more than I expected.
Design & First Impressions
The first thing you notice is how nice it feels. The back has a great texture to the touch, and overall the phone feels well built and solid. It’s not a small phone by any means, but compared to my iPhone 14 Pro or the latest Pixel 10 pro (and pro XL) devices I’ve tested, it actually feels lighter and easier to handle.
It’s one of those phones that doesn’t scream “premium flagship” but once you hold it, you kind of go: “ok, this is actually really nice.”

Battery & Charging – Honestly, This Is the Story
Let’s get straight to the point: the battery is ridiculous (in a good way).
During my Brussels trip, I did everything: gaming, videos, roaming data, GPS navigation, photos… basically a stress test without even trying. And the result?
Two full days of usage. Easy.
Charging is equally insane. With the 85W bundled charger (up to 100W max), going from ~20% to ~80% took me around 20 minutes (that’s one of the three time I charged it in a week). It’s the kind of speed that makes you forget what “battery anxiety” even is.
That said the phone has ❌ no wireless charging and if you’re used to mag-safe accessories that might be a deal breaker for someone.
But honestly, with this speed… I didn’t really miss it.

Display – A Very Pleasant Surprise
The display is very, very good: bright, sharp, nice colors, smooth.
It goes up to 120Hz (165Hz in supported games), but it’s not LTPO, so it doesn’t drop below 30Hz. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting that always on display is not really always on as it will be draining too much battery. Again not a deal-breaker, for me at the least.
I watched quite a bit of Netflix on it, and it’s clearly a step up from my current phone and almost on par with my tablet experience (pros and cons).
Of course, it’s still a phone… and yes, size still matters 😄

Performance – No Drama, Just Works
I’m not a hardcore mobile gamer, but I did my usual “install everything heavy and see what happens” routine:
COD Mobile
War Thunder
Asphalt
Genshin Impact
Wuthering Waves
No issues. No lag. No overheating worth mentioning. It just works which is exactly what you want.
If you’re into technical stuff you’ll know the processor has a faster CPU and slower GPU than the elite version.. cannot say I felt it. but if you’re after that than this is probably not the phone for you

Cameras – Good, But Stay in Your Lane
Cameras are… good. Not amazing, not bad, just solid.
Main camera: nice shots, good colors, decent detail, pleasant bookeh
Ultra-wide: noticeably weaker
Front camera: slightly cold/whitish tones
You can definitely take nice pictures, especially with the main sensor. But this is not a “wow, let me leave my camera at home” kind of phone.

And personally… I wouldn’t anyway: I usually carry a mirrorless with me 😄

Things to Keep in Mind
A few trade-offs that define the phone:
Nothing shocking but it helps understand where this phone sits.

Price & Positioning – Who Is This Phone For?
I think this phone really lives or dies based on its price.
At around 500€ (it’s a reasonable price you may find it), it makes a lot of sense. You’re getting excellent battery life, top-tier charging speed, strong performance, and a very good display. At that price, it feels like a smart, well-balanced deal.
At it’s full 700€ price tag, things get a bit more complicated. Around that range, you can start finding last year’s flagships and those usually bring better cameras, extra features (like wireless charging), and a more “complete” package overall.
So the real question is: who is this phone for?
If you care about battery, speed, and reliability, this is perfect
If you want a great daily driver with zero stress, this fits very well
If you’re not obsessed with having the best camera or every premium feature → you’ll be very happy
But if you’re chasing:
…then it might be worth looking elsewhere.
As for me?
I’m still uncertain.. it surely delivers but I live in the apple ecosystem so…
