Design/Build
The Amazfit Balance 2 has a 1.5” scratch resistant crystal glass, always on AMOLED bright display with a resolution of 480 × 480 with a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits.
The body of the watch face is Aluminum with a fiber reinforced polymer case, which has a textured button and a Digital Crown. It looks and feels premium with a weight of 43 grams without the straps.
Health/Fitness and Connectivity
There are a number of sensors such as Health sensor, BioTracker 6.0, Motion sensor, Temperature sensor, Gyroscope, Geomagnetic, Barometric altimeter, GPS supporting satellite positioning which all combine to provide superb Health and fitness features which offer 170+ workout modes.
All watch, health and fitness features are accessed via the Zepp app, which has AI coaching, 24 hour Health monitoring, Heart rate, Stress level monitoring which I personally think is valuable, Blood Oxygen Saturation, Sleep monitoring which I will be monitoring as I tend to wake up quite frequently during the night.
The app provides detailed information on my sleep such as REM sleep, breathing quality, sleep heart rate and even daytime naps. The Zepp app even includes official HYROX modes for specialists training. There’s even a premium option called the Zepp Aura which within the Zepp app which is a subscription which expands even further with features such as personalized music, sleep health assessment, meditation and a wellness assistant.
Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi, 2.4GHz and NFC connectivity are included.
Battery life
The Balance 2 has a 658 mAh battery which based on normal or typical usage gives up to 21 days, I’ve been using this watch for almost 2 weeks and I still have 47% battery. This makes a huge difference compared to having to charge my previous smartwatch once every 2 days. Amazfit state that heavy usage with give roughly up to 10 days, and takes roughly 2 hours for a full charge.
Overall thoughts?
My time with the Amazfit Balance 2 has extremely enjoyable, I really love the design of the watch which looks premium and feels really nice on my wrist. The watch is absolutely feature packed with the ability to monitor and analyze your health, fitness and lifestyle.
Navigating the watch feels smooth, fluid and responsive, this is due to the Zepp OS which makes notifications, receiving Bluetooth calls, tracking health features, using maps, and general use feel intuitive.
I really like the fact that the Balance 2 is compatible with Android 7.0 and above, and iOS 15 and above which gives options. Contactless pay is also support via Zepp Pay. If I was to be very picky the only gripe against the Balance 2 is the lack of Fall detection or Emergency SOS. I’m extremely satisfied with the Balance 2 and the extensive features, this will become my new daily smartwatch.
