Camera size and pixel amount for smartphones today don’t mean sh*t. iPhone remained 12MP for long. The only benefit I can think of with high pixel phone camera is to collect data for AI Neural network’s machine learning(for what ever the reason might be). However, it this is happen in your phone, your phone will be hot as hell and the battery drains within hours. So, it is not so viable to start a machine learning on your phone.
So, a possible reason is serving users sentimental values. you can check this article when looking at phones 🤣 it talks a lot about how phone brands today create product to serve sentimental purposes.
It’s 2022, what exactly do we want from a smartphone?
Hey remember to give us some feedbacks if you have any.
Ok, let’s get back to cameras. Enlarging the amount of pixels WILL NOT make your photo look better. For pro cameras, it is usually 12MP or 24MP, where 24MP is already a lot. This is because Pixels in the CMOS(camera sensor) will share the amount of light.
You can think about it this way,
if there are 5 pixels in the censor, and the light is 10, then every pixel gets 2 light.
If there are 10 pixels, but the light remains at 10, then every pixel only gets 1 light.
Therefore, more pixels would mean bad for image quality since they got weaker light. But smartphones today, rather just use algorithm to deal with the image, which is another story.
