The package contains the charging pod with the AirBuds Pro, 5 pairs of earpieces in addition to the one pair wich is already at the Buds, a short USB A to Type C charging cable and a pouch.
For the sake of choosing between six different earpieces you could rely to find one pair wich will fit into your ear perfectly. I’m using 2 different sizes for my ears, but in this way they fit perfectly. They are very comfortable and could be used for a couple of hours.
All in all, the processing is very good. So no degrees are noticeable, and the gap dimensions on the buds and on the case are very good, so that everything is flush. The lid stays on the case well. It did not accidentally open. What is particularly positive are the ear pads, apart from the fact that there are a bunch of pads in different sizes, they also sit very firmly on the buds, so that they should not get lost either. The sound is good and the equalizer can be used to adapt it to your own needs. The ANC works well but i would like it to filter out higher-pitched noises. However, the headphones already seal well, which significantly minimizes ambient noise. The rest is done by volume. What I have used more often, because I was very enthusiastic about it, is the transparency mode, in which the sound from outside is passed through the microphones to the headphones, so that you can still perceive your surroundings despite the music, and there is no need to unplug the Buds in conversations, but it is better to stop the music from playing while you want to listen to someone talking to you. Of course, if you listen to music that is loud enough, this effect is lost because the music then drowns out everything, but especially if you have pressed pause or are only listening to quiet music, this works perfectly. You can also switch between ANC, transparent and ANC off using gestures, so by default you can switch modes by pressing and holding one of the buds for 2 seconds. The gestures also work very well. The controls are very precise.
According to the manufacturer, the runtime is 6 hours without ANC and 4 hours with ANC, I can confirm these values, I also got 4 hours for the transparency mode. Through the case you can charge the buds about 3-4 times until the case itself needs to be plugged in.
This case has a USB Type-C socket and can therefore be charged with any Type-C cable, but nowadays this should also be a matter of course. The case doesn’t support wireless charging.
The battery could be checked by two LEDs, one on the outside wich shows the state of the case and one in the middle of where the AirBuds are docked to charge wich shows the Buds state.
The Charging state could also been seen in the app, but only for the Buds, the case’s charging state is not supported in the app. Gestures could be adjusted by the UMIDIGI app. It is possible to set the volume +, volume -, next track and previous track, voice assistent and Play/Pause and GameMode. It is also possible to choose a preset for the equalizer or to set it manually. The firmware could also be updated and the headphones could be searched by the app. I haven’t tested this because I never have felt the need to use it. As a additional feature you could get information about other products from UMIDIGI, I didn’t like this feature because it isn’t good for anything in my opinion and it is stuttering while scrolling through the catalogue.
My conclusion:
The Umidigi AirBuds Pro convince both with the sound and the wearing comfort. The runtime is perfectly reasonable and the workmanship is great. There is a lush package of accessories and the functions are also convincing with equalizer and ANC/transparency mode.
Even after several hours of use, the buds are very comfortable to wear.
It is a great headset for under 50$
They get 4.5 from a total of 5 Points
Compared with Others
The sound is similar to the HUAWEI Freebuds 3 and the Honor MagicBuds. The Freebuds 3 could be charged wireless but there is only one gesture to choose for each Bud (Next Track, Pause/Play, ANC and Voice Assistant). ANC could also be modified wich makes a little bit effect while there is no sound playing, but I didn’t recognize any difference when I played music. Although the buds are solid so they won’t be as comfortable as the UMIDIGI or the MagicBuds.
The Magic Buds also have earpieces to change wich are quite comfortable. They also have ANC and a Transparency mode. The gestures to been set are the same as for the HUAWEI
Both compared headsets would be above 50$
