There’s no denying that technology has become an indispensable part of our lives. Much of our study, work, and play is done with technology and there’s nothing inherently wrong with this at all! It’s a great tool that has quite literally revolutionized society, but like with every tool, it’s important to use it properly.
I’ll be the first to admit that I often spend too much time in front of my gadgets and don’t “unplug” as often as I should, so my question is, what healthy tech habits have you developed to help you manage your technology and balance it in your life effectively?
Two things I’ve been trying are to charge my phone in my bathroom at night so it’s not just sitting by my bed tempting me to use it (and I actually have to get out of bed to turn off my alarm to help wake me up lol) and I also physically shut down my laptop at the end of the work day so I’m not tempted to answer emails in the evening.
Oh! And I deleted Outlook off my phone!!! That one was huge. I still have Teams on there for emergencies, but deleting my work email off my phone has removed so much stress, partly because of my boss - pretty much any communication with them is stressful unfortunately - but still! It’s so freeing not pinged by it all night!
So anyway, what are some healthy tech habits you’ve established?
