Thoughts on the new iPads? Hot or not?

Apple quietly unveiled some new iPads last week with nothing but a press release and updates to their website.

The iPad Pros got the M2 chip and “new” Apple Pencil capabilities but the star of the show was the new, completely redesigned base model iPad.

The new iPad (10th Generation) now looks exactly like the iPad Air, with nearly exactly the same specs, with the exception of one glaring omission. You can read my full thoughts here if you want and I’m working on doing and even fuller writeup about it on my blog, but for now, suffice to say I’m…confused. And apparently I’m not the only one. The internet seems pretty divided on the new iPad but I’ll leave you to tumble down that rabbit hole if you want.

Anyway, what are your thoughts? Are you going to get one or not?

The price bump of the base Ipad is nonsense to me, also because most young students would take that base model at 329/389, I hope this opens the market for good cheaper android tablets

Personally, I don’t see a need for a tablet right now. I have a 3rd Gen iPad Pro that still works fine. Though it is mostly used by my wife now for her shows.

But yeah I agree the Apples business model is a bit odd this year. They did a similar thing with the iPhone 14 “Plus” which is basically an iPhone 13 Pro but bigger. Not sure why it’s named current gen other than just it being a straight cash grab.

I think I’ll keep the one I have ’cause it’s still working good and also, I don’t see an incredible improvement in the new one, compariing it with the last one.
