Have you ever De-Googled?

When someone thinks of De-Googling, the thought is usually brought on by wanting to take more control of privacy. For me, the thought came up when I had thoughts of getting an iPhone, I would want to be able to de-google completely, however, it is not as easy as it may sound. So many places/businesses with your gmail address, so much backed up/saved to the cloud/drive and so on.

DarkPikaJP Interesting, having an Android phone I find this really difficult to do, but if I switch to IPhone and then change my mind again then should I De-Appleing?

DarkPikaJP yeah this is really interesting. I’ve thought about myself but yeah it is pretty hard. Luckily iPhone works well with Google services but the hard part of switching over to Apple is that it’s even harder to get out of Apple’s garden than Google’s in my experience.

Plus there’s always a tradeoff with leaving Google stuff means you don’t get all the services that comes with it so you gotta be ok with that.

Lastly, I’m not really sure Apple’s system is any less private than Google’s but it might be. Either way, very interesting thought.

DarkPikaJP Very interesting but also difficult as it is today, because it would get your life a little bit more complicated as google is integrated in almost any app, and also you will still be forced to use it if you work or study in any environment where google services are used

Well I use a Samsung S22 Galaxy ultra and iPhone 14 pro I still use some Google apps on my iPhone it makes it easy for me as if i use android I don’t loose anything as Google is universal where iOS isn’t only works with apple eco system but I do like that Microsoft implementation of icloud on windows 11 and surface line

Debrasworld Wow that’s awesome getting to use arguably the 2 best phones from each ecosystem lol. Very cool! I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on how they compare. Maybe you write a post about that? It’s also interesting that you like how iCloud is implemented on Windows 11 and the Surface lineup. What do you mean by that? Can you share some pictures?

I’m also curious whether you think iOS or Android works better with Microsoft’s ecosystem?
