As you may have heard, Meta (owner of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and more) recently launched a new social media app called Threads. It is a text-focused conversation app aimed at competing with Twitter. Threads is under the Instagram branding and connects seamlessly with it, but yet it is a standalone app. Perception has been mixed. Some like the atmosphere, while others feel the app is mediocre. Whatever the case, Threads launched with missing features that Twitter has, yet, the new social media has accumulated tens of millions of signups.

Personally, I feel like Threads is a cool worthwhile competitor to Twitter. However, I’m unimpressed by the lacking innovation and the fact that it’s lacking features upon launch.

    Jado Im not sure yet. I know Elon Musk is drestroying Twitter bit a bit but Im a Twitter user now, maybe in few time I would try Threads 😉👍

      Jado yea I definitely won’t be trying until you can log in without Instagram.

        I’ve downloaded, and posted few threads. But tbh cannot remember to post as much as IG. Maybe when it has more features, might switch from IG to threads.

        It’s still pretty new, I’m sure there will be more features added as time goes on. I bet they rushed to launch cause it’s the perfect time.

        They for sure capitalized on Twitters “downfall”, as there’s just been so much drama about how Twitter has been changing for the worse (and it has). Without Musk changing Twitter so much, I don’t think Threads would have gotten the traffic and sign ups it did since it’s launch. Smart move by Zuckerberg to be honest.

          I’m excited to see what it could evolve to. It is still very new. But I’m already using it as a way to allow my followers to receive more content then what I post on Instagram

          Tingy Yep, good thoughts. Twitter needed change in my opinion, but Musk has been rather experimental and reckless.

            i might have a bias towards twitter (more like “X”) because i started on twitter but its good to see a competitor to twitter thats actually worth it.

            I had it for like one day. I’m not if I’ll be back or not. One thing I don’t like about it, is that if you want to delete your Threads account you will have to delete your Instagram.
