HeyUp community! Excuse my naivety as I am only just now learning the ropes when it comes to posting my Tester reviews. Because of this, you may (or may not) have already seen my 2 part review in another location within HeyUp. Rather than copy and paste the same review, I’m going to type up an entirely fresh review just for this Community page! With the RedMagic 10 pro tryout just now getting under way, I can tell all of you, now is an excellent time to be a RedMagic supporter and consumer. If it’s all right with everyone here and the @HeyupTeam, I’d like to not only use this space as my RM Nova Tablet Review, but also as my DeFacto entry into the New RM10 tryout. I say this because, after having a lot of time now spent with my Nova tablet, I have serious Red Magic Fever! I need to see what just came after this beast of a tablet.
Now, to begin, let’s start with the unboxing experience…I tracked the order on my UPS app to the minute, and was outside waiting for the driver when he pulled up. After previous encounters with RM products, and the knowledge I had already of their future release RM10, I couldn’t help but be over zealous and ecstatic about getting my hands on one of these Nova tablets to run it through it’s courses, for all of you. I ran back into the house like a kid on Christmas morning running downstairs to get his first look at all of the presents under the tree. I tore open the outer UPS box, and there it was. A minimalist, yet sleek light grey box. The RedMagic Logo and branding on the front, the rest of the packaging was cleaned minus a small excerpt on the back about specs and such. Now I had done my research prior to this event, and played it out in my head a million different ways but I honestly was still pretty damn impressed with the tablet, as soon as I got it out of the packaging. It has a robust, solid feel to it, but not too heavy; you know, that feeling of quality, versus cheap? That’s the weight you feel right away. For all intents and purposes, it’s beautifully weighted, and crafted through and through. A nice little touch, while not important to some, I find it extremely consumer-conscious- and that is, the battery came almost fully charged out of the box. I not only didn’t have to use the conveniently quick, included, 80w charger, just yet, I could get right into the experience.
Turning on the tablet is done with a conveniently recessed, and sized, power button at the “top” of the tablet (in what I call, “phone mode”, lol) this little recessed feature will become an extremely appreciated detail throughout my time with the tablet, because it practically eliminated any accidental button press, turning your screen off at the worst possible times. Aesthetically, the entire piece of hardware is beautifully constructed; almost non-existent Bevels around the screen not only accentuate the construction and craftsmanship, but really makes the beautiful High Definition, 144Hz Refresh, almost 3K Gorilla Glass screen the star of the show. As It was initially booting up, I was impressed with the entirety of The RedMagic Niva’s design. The sleek transparent strip that runs across the tablet (flipped from “phone mode” to a Landscape configuration) is a defining look that really sets all RedMagic devices apart from your run-of-the-mill boring devices from the other brands. Once I get my tablet hooked up to the wifi (super fast wifi 6 & 7 capable) and log in to my Google account, I started messing with the plethora of options that are available to users in the settings. Most of you will find the interface familiar and easy to navigate. While the Nova tablet is loaded with RedMagic’s own in-house Operating system, it is based entirely on the user friendly and familiar Android OS, just like a smartphone. Red magic has been so kind as to strip away some of the less than needed generic Google apps and because it’s not a cellular device there is no funky Carrier apps preloaded either. You’ll notice from every angle, that the tablet has been streamlined for its primary role- Performance and Aesthetics. There is some really badass lighting options for the back part of your tablet. You can pick from a plethora of colors and flashing patterns, not just for your Cooling fan, but also for the RedMagic labeling (the lighting flashes, however you set it up under the word RedMagic, it’s seriously kickass) the only downside to the lighting is its obviously not going to be readily visible to you, so it’s more for your friends or opponents to relish in. Nonetheless it’s super legit and I find myself almost wanting to use it in front of the mirror just so I can take it all in. This RGB lighting and the customization of it, are hallmarks of the RedMagic brand, and set their devices apart significantly when it comes to the ‘cool’ or ‘sigma’ factor. While I always had my device running at full spec, 144hz refresh and all, I noticed how impressive the battery life remained throughout my use. Whether gaming or just watching tik tok and YouTube, the 10,100MaH power cell is king! I got 8+ hours from each charge almost always. Which brings me to my next point- batteries are touchy creatures these days I and we all tend to forget the importance that lies in the number charge cycles we put our batteries through…RedMagic has you covered! They allow you to turn on a bypass and just run the tablet straight off of its C-adapter plugged into the wall outlet, without juicing the battery at all. I have no doubt that the battery life for my tablet is going to impressive for many moons to come, thanks to this thoughtful feature! RedMagic really covered the bases with this Nova Tablet; that’s why I seriously am hardly able to contain my excitement for this RM10 Smartphone tryout…I’m hoping for a Double Play with RedMagic, because if their tablet, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is this inspiring, it’s almost inconceivable how legit the 10Pro is. As is to be expected, the gaming performance and multitask ability was bar-none. The quad DTS tuned Snapdragon-Audio-Chipped speakers were also impressive, loud, clear, with good tone and depth. Because of how beautiful the screen is I’ve been watching a ton of Our Planet 2 on Netflix, even more so than gaming. I did run a couple console games on it however, mostly GTA San Andreas (keeping it old school a little bit! Lol) The Nova continues to not disappoint, I didn’t notice any Lag time or Wifi latency or anything that hindered my gaming performance, while I was hijacking cars, and running rampant in the San Andreas Underworld. I would claim, without hesitation, it performa better on the tablet than I remember it doing on my PlayStation 2 back in the day, and I don’t see it having any trouble eating up more newer games, as well. In conclusion, if you are still not sure about straying from the big brands like Samsung or Apple, then you should really think twice and consider giving RedMagic a try! Spec wise and performance wise, on paper and against my girl’s iPad, this RedMagic Nova reigned supreme In every aspect, I thought. Seriously, the only Achilles heel I found in my entire testing, was the simple fact that it completely lacks the antennae hardware for 5G connectivity. You must use the built in Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity. If you have even remotely decent wifi or a hotspot, then you’re good to go, it has an excellent wifi antennae.
I’m excited to see what the RM10 Pro has In store for all of us, because of the Nova was anything like a preview of what RedMagic has up their sleeves then I want in!!!
I highly recommend this product
