As 2024 comes to a close, the most exciting tech event of 2025 will be CES in the United States. I’ve already seen numerous leaks, and many brands are set to showcase their latest innovations.

I’m most excited about AR/VR, gaming gadgets, AI products, smart home tech, and more. I also believe there will be a lot of focus on electric vehicles (EVs). Which product categories or brands are you most excited to see at CES, and what new launches or technologies are you looking forward to? Heyup will have team members on-site to experience the cutting-edge tech firsthand.

dsmonteiro In 2025, we are planning several theme-related offline events and we will keep community members updated. We will have colleagues attending CES and MWC. If you’re planning to attend these events, it would be great to know and connect with you there.

Ivyisme I’ll try to visit MWC, for sure. I’m a short flight away and I always love to see what the tech trend of the congress will be… my first MWC was 5G, then VR, then last year was all about AI.

I wonder what the next one will be like.

dsmonteiro This year, AI and its related products, such as AI earphones and AI glasses, will likely remain at the forefront. At last year’s CIOE, I witnessed significant advancements in AR products, and due to AI technology, there’s a growing interest in AR glasses. At this year’s MWC, will there be an increase in high-end smartwatches to cater to market demands? If you’re attending, let’s explore how Heyup members can connect and discuss which brands you’re excited to see unveil their latest cutting-edge technology.:)

Ivyisme I feel like Smart Rings might overtake the smartwatch category soon. No one seems really thrilled with the smartwatch offering but rings on the other hand seem like a category more and more people enjoy. I wonder if 2025 will be the year smart rings become “mainstream”.

dsmonteiro Smart rings may be very compact, but smartwatches have something that rings will probably never, and is the fact that smartwatches can have decent storage and enough RAM despite being small devices, in addition to interactive screens, features that rings such as the Samsung Galaxy Ring do not have, even though it costs €449, this ring has a storage of only 8MB.

We can also talk about the fact that smart watches They have been very popular in the market and are very versatile, being able to bring high technology to your wrist and it is something that smart rings will rarely have.

FangedBasoon The argument is valid, of course, but look at the smartwatch market. Aside from Samsung, all other Android smartwatch are struggling, even though the Wear OS ecosystem has been around for over a decade.

Also, our smartphones are always with us, so what’s the need for “decent storage and enough RAM” on a watch? The only true use case I have on my WearOS device over a smart ring is handling the notifications. Everything else I typically still rely on my phone.

Unless there’s a major push to turn smartwatches into primary devices by bundling them with other smart devices — earphones and smart glasses — replacing the smartphone altogether, I don’t see the smartwatch becoming more than a niche product. Especially when, even after a decade, you need to make a hard choice between functionality or battery life. The only true exceptions to that are the TicWatch Pro series and now the OnePlus Watch 2. And even those devices can’t last you a full week before needing to be plugged into the wall.
