Hey, everyone,
Big news for smart home fans: SwitchBot, a brand quite well-known around these parts, is now part of the “Works with Home Assistant” program! This means that some of the most popular SwitchBot devices are now fully tested, certified, and work seamlessly with Home Assistant—no cloud required, and no guessing whether that new gadget will be a headache to set up.
That means that, for example, the SwitchBot Lock Ultra that HeyUp recently reviewed here is guaranteed to work smoothly.
You might be wondering “Why does it matter?”
Home Assistant (often called HA) is one of the world’s most popular open-source smart home platforms. It runs on a small computer (like a Raspberry Pi or dedicated box), giving you a private, local “brain” for your smart home. More importantly, with Home Assistant, you’re not locked into a single brand or forced to use the cloud for everything—instead, you can connect devices from hundreds of brands, automate routines, and control your home exactly the way you want.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I have a Smart Home that includes devices from Dreame, IKEA, Xiaomi, Ecowitt, Reolink, Siemens, Shelly (and even Oral-B!), all working together without the need of countless apps. Instead, I managed to create a single dashboard to interact with all of these devices.

(Work-in-Progress)
So, “Works with Home Assistant” was all I needed to start heavily considering getting the SwitchBot Lock Ultra. Do you have SwitchBot devices or do you use Home Assistant? Let me know your experience in the comments below!
