The new DreameBot X30 Ultra is a lazy homeowner’s dream, a robot that is finally fully autonomous, needs little attention, and performs exceptionally well. I had the honor of beta testing this amazing robot, and I hope to convey to you through this review of mine just how much of a game changer this product is in the robot vacuum landscape.
Robot vacuum cleaners have always been thought to make our lives easier by eliminating the work of cleaning floors, but in doing so they have introduced other pain points such as cleaning the base station, draining dirty water and refilling clean water, untangling hair stuck in brushes, and in some cases the need to prepare the home environment for cleaning. The Dreamebot X30 ultra removes most of these annoyances from the equation by introducing not only the best technologies developed to date but for the first time a self-cleaning capable washing base station and a brush named Tricut that cuts human and animal hair, these features in addition to the ability to connect to the home water system make this robot the first truly self-sufficient robot. But we will explore its innovations individually later.
To begin with, the self-cleaning base station is equipped with integrated rubber scrapers to clean the base station plates, with an ingenious system the rotation of mops in the base activate the rotation of two “roller wipers”.
It can also wash mops with hot water and dry them with hot air. As mentioned earlier via separately purchased kit can also automatically empty the waste water tank and fill the other with clean water. In addition, the station can automatically mix the ideal ratio of detergent solution and water, there is a detergent container instead of the old cartridge system, more practical and economical solution, in addiction the base refill the water tank in the robot with the water/detergent mixture.
Finally the robot automatically empties from its internal dust container into the large 3.2L container in the base station. Dreame claims that the base station should only be emptied once every 75 days, although this certainly varies according to how dirty or large your home is and whether you have pets.
Dreame has also introduced the TriCut anti-tangle brush with blades to cut hair that tangles around the brush, now home owners with long hair or with long-haired animals no longer need to struggle to untangle the mass of hair from the brush, common thing seen with other robot vacuum cleaner.
The digital motor inside can produce up to 8,300 Pa of suction power and thanks to a 6,400 mAh battery provides up to 260 minutes of suction or cleaning in silent mode. Dreame claims this is enough to clean up to 243m² which is about twice the size of most standard apartments and is in fact able to clean the first floor of my house of about 130sqm with more than 40% battery remaining at medium settings.
Washing performance has also been improved, with the new MopExtend RoboSwing technology allowing the flexible arm of Dreame to extend and wash to the edge of the baseboards and furniture, also allows the robot to rotate and reach up to 4 cm deeper in the corners and cracks to clean even the hidden areas, another function introduced is to circumnavigate the feet of chairs and tables. When the robot switches to washing mode, it will detect and avoid carpets automatically or lift the mop up to 10.5mm to avoid touching the carpet surface, In addition, it inherits also the feature of the previous L20 ultra to automatically unhook the mops in the station so as to avoid staining even the highest and thickest carpets.
Also on the front of software and navigation we are at the top of the category. The robot integrates all the most modern sensors, Lidar, 3d detectors and in addition a high resolution camera, the system called Pathfinder is able not only to map the house (even in 3D) impeccably but also to recognize thanks to the camera with AI more than 70 obstacles that increase with each update, photograph them and avoid them in an intelligent way. The use of the camera and 2-way audio also allows the function of video surveillance in real time or via programmed routes, as well as adds to the robot thanks to the AI to understand where the floor is dirtiest to insist on cleaning. Even through the new option Clean Genius introduced with L20 ultra but now further improved the robot is able to manage the daily cleaning in complete autonomy without any programming intervention by the user.
The management software is among the most complete and structured that I have used, you can really customize every aspect of cleaning and management of the robot, as well as clearly the ability to edit the map, renominate rooms and insert virtual walls, prohibited areas and no-mop areas, it is now possible to indicate the direction of the tiles, if thresholds are present so that the robot “takes the run-up” to overcome them, you can insert the furniture and change those that the AI detects automatically, is also present for the first time the possibility of hiding unwanted map areas. Cleaning side there is really to get lost…you can decide for single room whether to vacuum, wash, vacuum and wash together or wash after the suction, with what suction power and with the desired amount of water now set even on 32 levels, you can also choose the amount of water used to wash the mops and whether to use hot water or room temperature, set daily or intense washing mode in which the robot slows down and tightens the patterns, in the dedicated mop extend menu you can customize the frequency of cleaning the edges, and activate the new functions for washing under furniture and around the feet of chairs and tables. I stop here to avoid that the review becomes a user manual even if there would be to talk about it for a long time, but I want to make a special mention for the exceptional management of the carpets, the robot has like all category top an ultrasonic sensor for detection but software side Dreame have really done an excellent job, now clicking directly from the map on the carpet you can also decide how the robot should behave for each individual carpet, if to avoid it, lift the mops, leave them at the base, clean them before or after the floor, increase the suction and clean them 2 times, or wash them anyway in case it is for example a rubber carpet.
From my humble point of view the DreameBot X30 Ultra seems like a dream come true for those who hate getting their hands dirty and don’t bother paying more for a robot that can do all the dirty work for them.
I could tell you about this revolutionary robot for hours but to not be bored I only add some useful information about availability and prices, X30 ulta is marketed in the Asian and American market only at a list price of 1699 dollars. In The European market and Italy will arrive soon X40 ulta, a flagship updated version with extendable side brush (like the one seen at CES on Roborock S8 MaxV ulta) and probably a new version of the Tricut brush.
Ultimately I would like to thank Dreame for this wonderful opportunity of collaboration to test this products, and a special thanks to the wonderful Heyup community that offers the opportunity for us to review on a large stage special and innovative products like this.
In the end I leave you the links of my Facebook groups that deal with robot vacuum cleaners and in particular that of Dreame which is the first user group in Italy
