(the reviews that don’t make your beard grow)

Introduction
The floor never lies: whether you have pets, kids, or simply a hectic life, by the end of the day it’s often a minefield of dust, crumbs, and stains. That’s when you realize that brooms and mops, in today’s fast-paced world, only take up time and effort.
The Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni was created precisely to replace traditional cleaning tools in the best possible way, a highly efficient self-cleaning roller, an all-in-one station that takes care of routine maintenance by itself, and an AI navigation system that recognizes obstacles better than some drivers (unfortunately, without taking pictures of them).
The promise is clear: to make you forget not only daily cleaning but also the maintenance of the robot itself (at least for a while). An appealing promise, for sure… but the question is: does it actually deliver?

User Experience: How It Works
Mapping and Navigation
Once powered on, the X9 Pro Omni maps your home in just a few minutes. Thanks to LiDAR and the AIVI 3D system, it detects and avoids small obstacles like cables, shoes, or toys. It’s one of those differences you notice right away, no more robots that “eat phone cords” or get stuck on chair legs. It navigates rooms well and applies targeted cleaning strategies based on dirt type by activating the “smart hosting” function.
For some reason, Ecovacs decided not to display the avoided obstacles on the map or as images (as some competitors do), a choice that can be seen two ways: fewer distractions for average users, since the robot works fully autonomously; or, for the more tech-savvy users, a lack of control and insight.
At less than 10 cm tall and without a LiDAR turret, it easily slips under most furniture — though it’s not the slimmest model overall.

Suction
Here Ecovacs has made a major leap forward: the 16,600 Pa isn’t just a brochure number but a tangible reality, mainly thanks to improved airflow. Crumbs, dust, and pet hair are picked up effortlessly. On low-pile carpets, the extra suction makes a real difference, while on thicker ones it remains on par with other top models.
The ZeroTangle 3.0 main brush and anti-tangle side brush greatly reduce hair wrapping — a nightmare for many users. It’s worth noting that although the side brush is longer than average, it doesn’t fully reach deep corners or under furniture; edge coverage, however, is excellent.

Note on BLAST Technology
The BLAST™ (Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology) is a new Ecovacs system designed to boost not only suction pressure but also airflow, the amount of air the robot moves to lift dust and debris.
How it works:
Uses a 100 W high-torque motor with optimized air ducts to minimize losses.
Maintains a strong airflow (up to 16.3 L/s) along with high pressure.
The entire system (motor, ducts, filters, mop) is engineered together to maximize efficiency.
Mopping
The OZMO ROLLER system is the real star: a roller mop spinning up to 220 rpm with constant pressure of 3,700 Pa. The result? Consistently clean, streak-free floors.
Note on OzmoRoller Technology
Uses a self-washing rotating roller that spins while being continuously rinsed with clean water.
A scraper removes accumulated dirt from the roller.
Dirty water is collected in a separate tank.
The roller lifts itself over carpets to avoid soaking them.
✅ Main advantages
More hygienic cleaning since the roller doesn’t spread collected dirt.
Higher effectiveness on stubborn stains thanks to rotational motion and pressure.
Reduced manual maintenance due to self-cleaning.
No dirty residue left behind, as the roller stays constantly clean.
If the area contains liquid spills, the system can remove and vacuum them.
❌ Disadvantages and limitations
More complex system (pumps, scrapers, ducts, sensors), which may require more maintenance over time.
Generally louder than simpler systems.
Corner and edge issues: less effective at perfectly reaching tight corners or baseboards; the “TrueEdge” roller extension helps but doesn’t always clean to the last millimeter from the wall.

Carpet Management
Here the Triple Lift System comes into play: when the robot detects a carpet, it lifts the roller by up to 15 mm to prevent soaking and continue vacuuming. This feature drastically reduces the need to set “no-mop zones” for low-pile carpets. For high-pile ones, it’s better to vacuum them first separately, the robot will automatically avoid them during mopping.
It constantly detects carpets in real time, so if you move them to clean underneath, it will adjust behavior accordingly.

The OMNI Base
The base is relatively compact despite being one of the most feature-rich on the market. After each cleaning cycle, it washes the roller with hot water Intelligently uses water at different temperatures (40 / 55 / 75 °C) depending on the type of dirt., and then dries it with hot air at 63 °C. It also empties dust and dirty water, and refills clean water and detergent, leaving users only the task of topping up and emptying the tanks when needed. Of course, occasional manual cleaning of the base, robot, and consumables is necessary, but the app conveniently reminds you.

App and Voice Commands
The Ecovacs Home app is very complete: you can create detailed maps, schedule room-by-room cleanings, and adjust suction and water levels. You can also set all base and AI parameters and even use the built-in camera for remote monitoring.
In addition to Alexa and Google compatibility, the X9 Pro Omni features YIKO-GPT, Ecovacs’ proprietary voice assistant: just say “clean the kitchen” near the robot and it starts without even opening the app.

Strengths
Very powerful suction (16,600 Pa — and you can feel it).
OZMO roller mop with constant pressure: above-average mopping performance.
Liftable mop and brushes: excellent carpet/floor handling.
Full OMNI base: auto-emptying, mop washing and drying, detergent dosing.
Advanced navigation and AI.
Feature-rich, intuitive app with Alexa, Google, and YIKO voice control.
Limitations
Avoids obstacles well but doesn’t display or report them in the app.
Side brush can’t reach very tight corners.
Dirty-water tank in the robot must be cleaned manually.****
Conclusion
Ideal for: pet owners, families with kids, or anyone wanting a premium robot and to almost forget about cleaning. Less suitable for: users who want full visibility of detected obstacles or have many tight corners.
The Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni is one of the most complete and advanced robots available today. Powerful suction, outstanding mopping with its well-engineered roller, intelligent carpet handling, and near-autonomous operation thanks to its OMNI base.
If you’re looking for a premium robot that truly cleans well, 1499€ is a high price but the X9 Pro Omni is an investment that will change the way you think about home cleaning, and you will find periodically withgreat discounts.
