What's your current tech setup?

Hey everyone! I’m curious to know what tech gets you through the day.

For me, my daily driver is an iPhone 13 Mini paired with an Apple Watch Series 7. Mainly because of the size (I love small phones) and because I live in the States where most everyone I talk to regularly uses an iPhone so being in the Apple Garden is just easier for communication. Plus, their ecosystem is still just more seamless than Android (and unless Google decides to completely change everything about it’s business model, it will stay that way).

I also carry an Android phone with me as a secondary device and right now that’s the OnePlus 10 Pro. I love the greater customization of Android, plus I just like the look of Android over iOS. And yes, notifications are miles ahead of iOS, but it’s still a bit of a mess - too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

Side note: I honestly don’t really prefer iOS over Android - they both have their pros and cons; neither is perfect and they both have some great features.

For music, I have the OnePlus Buds Pro (my wife uses AirPods Pro) and the Sony WH1000XM 3s.

My personal computer is a 2019 MacBook Pro 16″ and my work laptop is a Dell XPS 13 9310.

My wife and I also share a standard 9th gen iPad.

For unwinding at the end of the day, I stream everything on my Apple TV 4th gen (not the 4K one) and my TV is a 46″ 4K LG TV (don’t ask the model number. I got it like 5 years ago).

My console of choice is the PlayStation 5. I have used Xbox in the past and have no aversion to it whatsoever, I just prefer PlayStation.

Heyo I like the unbiased honest opinion 😀 Both Androids and iPhones have their pros and cons like you said.

The Apple ecosystem for me is like a drug, which it makes you cannot live without apple product. When I do creative works like video editing, photo post production, or visual design,using Airdrop and iCloud are just satisfying. Not to say the apple silicon was designed for all these creative works. However, I am still afraid to buy Final Cut Pro x, because that will make my job completely rely on apple product, which could result badly. (For my bank account and my adaptivity to other device.)

Great topic! My tech setup consists of most importantly to me, a 2021 14 inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I’ve got to say that I’m really glad and thankful for it – great laptop! I use it for so much. It’s used for school classes and assignments, Zoom meetings, screen recording, video editing for my YouTube channel, entertainment, productivity/business, and web-surfing of course.

I also have an iPhone 11 64gb in black with a Tech 21 case (amazing case btw) and an Apple Watch Series 3 that are great companions and tools of themselves. I use the phone much like the laptop – for lot’s of things.

As for audio devices, I use a variety. I have a pair of Oladance earbuds, JLab Air Sport S earbuds, and Monoprice headphones.

I have a Canon T5i with a Takstar shotgun mic for content creating. I also use a Gudeholo desktop mic as well.

I recently received the Heyup projector thanks to the recent giveaway so I’ve had some fun with that as well 😀.

I am a video creator myself, but I always, almost every time, suffered the bad sound recording. Especially for shotgun mics.

It was always reverbs or noises from the environment that ruins the day.

Did you set up a room to cancel noise and reverbs? I am just curious.

Love this thread. Right now I’m rocking a Pixel 3a, which I’m looking to upgrade soon. I’m heavily considering getting an iPhone for my next daily driver - I’m really liking what I’m hearing about the iPhone 13 series, so I’ll probably get one of those once the 14 series comes out. I’ve always been on team Android but it just seems like the software and value of the phones have been slacking lately :(

For the laptop I’ve got a 2017 13″ Macbook Pro for personal use and a 14″ M1 for work. Really liking how the M1 is performing, and I might pick up an M1 Pro for personal use once my 13″ is on the way out. I also have a gaming PC that I recently built, and I’ve really enjoyed actually being able to play games. Never going back to Mac gaming 😆

Oh and I’m also using the Heyplus watch I reviewed through Heyup. Still use it every day and still holding up perfectly!

SprintingWorm I use Final Cut Pro myself and it’s nice. Airdrop can be pretty handy! I’ve used it many times. However, I haven’t got caught up in iCloud as it costs money for extra storage and we also don’t have the best internet for having everything in the cloud. I love Apple’s ecosystem, but it is expensive and I understand why someone would want to keep themselves from totally getting emerged in it.

SprintingWorm Yes, sound can be tricky. I haven’t mastered it myself. Like I said I use a couple of different mics. The shotgun mic seems to pick up or result in some background noise in the video. I wish that could be eradicated and I’ve considered trying to set up some foam/soundproofing but I never have. Adding background music to a video I think is a good way to distract from the unwanted noise.

Jado I suggest you can try bug mics, they worked fine most of the time.

Yeah I’m a big Final Cut Pro fan but that’s mainly because someone bought it for me a long time ago so I’ll never have to pay for updates ever again lol, which is a pretty big selling point. I also like that it’s simple enough that I was able to teach myself editing. I stick with a Blue Yeti that I picked up a few years ago and it works well enough for me but if I ever get to the point where I’m able to focus more on my YouTube stuff full time I’ll probably buy some better mics.

I’ve recently been in the process of upgrading the tech in my life as I kind of pushed them to their limits and lifespan, due to saving for a house deposit. I am the technical and analytical person and my partner is the creative so all our tech has been quite diverse. We both had older iPhones (me 11 Pro Max and my partner 12 Pro Max), my partner got the iPhone 15 Pro Max where as I went for the S24 Ultra. Computers, my partner went with a custom PC desktop to turn our home office into a music studio where as I went with a Dell Latitude 5540 laptop that I dual use for work and study as I need the portability. Its been interesting seeing the subtle differences in our preferences for tech, my partner mainly being apple orientated vs me with android and can definitely see how each side appeals to each other’s preferences.

On a side note, I personally love how even laptops now are utilising USB-C charging which is great for cutting down the amount of different chargers needed.
