Do you call, text, or message?

I’m just curious these days as to what people’s primary method of communication is. Do you ever actually talk on the phone much anymore or are you all in on text and messaging?

If so, what app do you use to chat the most?

There are a few people in my life that I still call regularly - parents, best friend, wife - but other than that, everyone I talk to is through messaging, almost entirely iMessage as I live in the US and that is still most people’s preferred message platform.

I also use Slack for some of the communities I’m in, I have a few Whatsapp conversations going and every now and then I’ll chat with an old friend through Instagram but that’s about it for me.

For work, we only use Teams.

What about you? How do you communicate with loved ones, friends, and colleagues?

Heyo i usually text in WhatsApp, if i need to get an answer immediately I use phone calls. Sometimes I am using WeChat. And as a few friends of mine don’t use any messangers I sometimes text SMS.

I don’t talk to my colleagues, but if it is necessary it will happen by mail. 😄

The thing I dislike the most are audio messages which are longer than 30 seconds. When people start an audio message with the words “I use the audio message because it is quicker to tell and I just want to tell you this little thing” and then they keep on talking for 5 minutes… I hate it.

Writing helps sort things and recording a messages won’t, so there are many “uhm” and “Ahhh” and finally the point is missing.

Ça dépend 😅 avec ma famille, si c’est pour s’envoyer des conneries ou juste poser une question, on utilise Messenger, on a un groupe tous ensemble, mais il m’arrive d’appeler mes parents par moment.

Avec ma compagne, on reste sur le classique SMS 👍

It depends, for example I make a call to family or friends to meet. But I use a lot whatsapp to comunicate with them

I still remember I used a lot sms when I was in school, later everyone switched to smartphones. Then I started to use messenger.

I’m lazy: if i have to text a long text (mainly on Whatsapp), i call 😀

Yea usually depends on the situation with calling but tend to text/messenger more.

Matthias Haha this is so true. I had a friend in the past that would almost only use audio messages lol. Most of the time they were fairly short, like a minute or so, but occasionally she would just talk for like 5 minutes lol.

Heyo the ridiculous one I have gotten was a way description whth many direction changes and notes like “after the yellow house you must tur right” and so on. It was ment to listen to while driving, but even though I had a passenger who could repeatly start the message again and pause it was hard to follow the instructions.

Most friends know that I didn’t like this long recordings, but some of them excuse for it and record for minutes.

Got to thinking about this more last night for some reason but what about email? When it comes to work life, I think I’d prefer emailor evening text over calling unless it’s something I need right then and there. And none of the above after shift hours 😅

DarkPikaJP Haha quite true. I do still use email for a lot of things but that’s mostly for professional or non-family and friend communication.
