Packaging (⅖)
I have bought them last year, and for I have three kids I have ordered both packages. The first was a single Headphone. Included in the Package has been a 3.5mm plug to 3.5mm plug cable an a USB to micro USB cable. Second one was a Double Pack with two headphones, also including the above mentioned cables for both headphones, and an audio-splitter. With two 3.5mm Jacks and one 3.5mm Plug to use both headset with one device. Everything was only packed in ZIP Bags. Unboxing really isn’t great with them.
Build Quality (3.5/5)
A lot of Plastic is used with the headset, the headband is padded, as are the ear cups. There are also no sharp edges noticeable. Operation via the buttons is easy. There are power button, volume up/next song, volume down/last song and multi function button which is used for pause, play and answer/hang up. Underneath the Buttons there is the micro USB charging port, the 3.5mm Audio jack, the microphone and a LED. The LED is used for showing if the device is charging or it is fully charged and also for Pairing purpose. For two of the Headphones the LED is quite good, but the blue ones LED isn’t bright enough to see it in the daylight. The Audio jack works fine, so even if you ran out of energy you could use the headphones in its wired mode. For the battery should last for 22h of playtime this hasn’t been of need, we only used it for devices which haven’t had Bluetooth. The headband is adjustable, so it even fits my head, the 3 Years old is a little bit to small, so they would possibly fall of if she moves way to fast. The rail which is used to adjust them is made of metal and the cable is on the outside, I had been a little bit critical with the cable to break because it looks very thin, but for now now of the headsets have a cable issue.
Usability (3.5/5)
For young children, the buttons may be a bit stiff or they may not find the buttons when they have the headphones on. My 7 years old is capable of using it without any trouble, my 5 year old would be able too, but she does not want to and is keep asking for help. This is more a general behavior of the 5year old, than a headphone fault. The 3 year old just needs help with them, but she is able to put them onto her head and enjoying the Music/Audio book of her choice. The maximum output is limited to 94dB, so the Kids won’t be able to accidentally harm their ears. As mentioned above the Battery should last for 22 hours, as they aren’t used every day I only charge them every 2 month while they aren’t out of energy I will believe this. With the build in Microphone they could also be used for Calls and Video meetings. For I didn’t use this i could tell you much about the quality. The sound for Music and Audio books is okay, it isn’t for any audiophile, or bass lover etc. but my kids haven’t been complaining about sound quality so it does what its made for. I have tested it with several of the Kids Music, I liked it with the kind of Kids Metal Bands (Metalkinder and Heavysaurus) while other German kids music sounds a little bit flat, but that could also be because of this music. The micro USB charging port is working very well. I would rather had bought a USB Typ C Version, but I couldn’t find any Kids Headphone with a Typ C. At least I suddenly have gotten an error where the device is connected but the Audio signal isn’t passed to the headphones, it is played by the device own speaker. I couldn’t figure out if it is a headphone fault or a device fault, because it happens to every of the headsets and every device. So I just work around this failure and disconnect the device and connect it again and it usually works out this way.
Overall Score: ⅗
Final Thoughts
The Headphones are doing their job. They are okay for 21.99€ for the single one version and the 39.99 double pack. The Bluetooth Connecting Error is a thing witch should get fixed, at least for a newer version and the micro USB should be exchanged into a USB Typ C. Even if the audio Quality isn’t my favorite, it is exactly what comforts my kids.
