Doogee S96 Pro review
Doogee is a smartphone manufacturer established in Shenzhen, China, in 2013. it is one of the well-known Rugged Smartphone provider. and according to Doogee, the Doogee S96 Pro is one of their top-selling mobile phone, with over one million units sold worldwide. so without further do, let start review this phone.
The Design
The Doogee S96 Pro is housed in a sturdy poly-carbonate and aluminum-alloy chassis, front is a 6.22” 1520×720 pixel LCD IPS water-drop display with 270ppi are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass with pre-installed screen protector. At the back are a round camera module with Isometric up and down 4 lens, two sets of 4 white LEDs and 4 IR LEDs are located on either side of the camera. one custom-key on the left-side and on the right-side are Power button with volume rocker on the top and fingerprint scanner on the center. The top charging port and 3.5mm audio jack port are mounted at the bottom and is covered by a piece of rubber cover. it is waterproof and dustproof with IP68 & IP69K certified. the good new is it come with notification led, which many phone doesn’t have nowadays. the dimension is 167mm x 81.4mm x 15.5mm and 310gram weight. it is a bit chunky compare to a normal phone.

The Chipset of Doogee S96 Pro is MediaTek Helio G90 (GT6758), Octa Core 2.0GHz 12nm, 2x Cortex A76 2.0GHz + 6x Cortex A55 2.0GHz and ARM Mali-G76 GPU paired with 8GB of UFS RAM and 128GB of storage.and the storage can be add up to 256GB, because it supports dual sim cards and a dedicated sd card slot.
Connectivity
S96 Pro offers you a dual 4G LTE should you insert 2 sim cards, and it supports 3G,2G as well, if your location doesn’t have 4G coverage. The 4G performance are very decent, I insert 2 sim cards, both have full bar 4G signals. the GSM calling are very clear with the phone’s earpiece. the speed of mobile data is very promising.
WIFI/Bluetooth/NFC/Location
Supports 5GHz WIFI connection and is getting connected very fast and stable and offers Bluetooth 5.0, NFC. and support GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo system navigations.
Battery and Charging
The S96 Pro is equipped with a whopping 6,350 mAh battery is capable of giving you a good two days of usage on a single charge. support 24W Type-C fast charge and 10W wireless charging. the wireless charging is a garbage as the charging speed are very slow and the phone is very Hot. moreover, you need to keep adjust the phone till the wireless charging panel detected.
Software
The S96 Pro is running Android 10, it is well compatible with the hardware, delivers a smooth and responsive experience with no lag and snappy app performance. as I mentioned above, this phone come with a custom key, allow you to fast launching apps upto 3, even when phone display are off. you can choose to fast launch whatever apps is in your device.
Sound Quality
The speaker is mounted at the bottom of the back of the phone, sound play out from the Youtube local file are pretty decent. but loud-speaker volume are too low when on GSM calling. but surprisingly loud-speaker on Whatsapp calling are higher. Therefore, it should be a software debugging problem.
Gaming Performance
I test playing Pubg and Asphalt 9, both running smooth with decent colors displayed.
Camera
The 48MP auto-focus main camera on the S96 Pro produces excellent photos, with plenty of detail and decent colors when in good light environment. it can struggle with noise as light levels is low. The 8MP wide-angle camera works well in situations where you want to squeeze more content into the frame. 2MP macro camera are great for close-up shots. 16MP front facing selfie camera that includes a dedicated portrait mode if you want to blur the background for effect. The Camera have Al system, it can slightly help to improve the quality of photos. it support underwater photo shooting too. The main sensor can also capture 4K video at 30fps, but no optical image stabilization.

Doogee S96 Pro is a good device to have. although the weight is heavy compare to a normal phone. but the phone body build quality is very solid, well protected by the solid body itself, you no need to have any extra protective case. most important is, it is delivers a very smooth and snappy performance with decent Camera performance.
