Build quality (⅗)
The surface of both the earbuds and the charging cases feels pleasant, The surface feels pleasant, but the feel a little gap or an offset between the separate parts. The openings of the earspeker could be a bit more polished.
The Case ⅘
The charging case is very compact, so it should fit in any pocket. It has a white LED which is used as a charging indicator. Sadly it will only tell whether the charge is above or below 20%.
On the back of the case there is a button to reset the bluetooth connection because the buds can only establish one connection at a time.
The lid is easy to open, but the magnetic closure prevents accidental opening.
If you drop the case on the floor, there is a 90% chance that it will open and the buds will be scattered all over the floor. The charging springs look sturdy and the entire loading mechanism should be durable.
The Buds ⅘
I have been a little bit skeptic about how comfortable the buds will be, especial if they are used for more than an hour. I have used them for 6 to 8 hours at a time for several days and it never felt uncomfortable. even though they don’t have soft ear pads. The usage time is, as you could imagine, between 6 and 8 hours, depending on what you listen an the volume.
I have never felt the need to use them at 100% volume, the sound is loud and clear, and also has a full tone. I have used them for Audio books, Music and Movies and they never disappointed me.
When I switched from other headphones to the Nubia, I needed a short time to get used to it, as my normal ones don’t have such a wide sound spectrum.
The sound quality for calls is good and the microphones work very well.
The Nubia C1 does not have ANC, but they offer a gaming mode where the latency is set to 60 milliseconds.
The touch buttons are precise. It plays a different sound when it changes between Music Mode and Game Mode, when they are connected, lost the connection and when the battery level is low. Most of the time the notification sounds are a lot louder than the Audio source, it would be better if they would match the momentary Volume
Unfortunately there is no app for these buds, so you can’t change any settings
Final Thoughts (3,5/5)
Pro:
The Nubia Sound C1 are very comfortable and have a good sound quality. The usage time is very long and because of the small size they are portable.
Con:
They do not have noise cancellation and are not adaptable because the lack of an app.
Good sound quality and a long battery life are a good start, but in the highly competitive TWS headset market, the question remains whether you can really do without ANC and configurability via an app.
