When considering the anticipation for Meta’s first true augmented reality glasses, the Orion, compared to the Meta-RayBan which lacks a screen, there are three compelling reasons why AR glasses are pivotal for the next revolution in personal computing, Orion summarized three primary reasons why AR glasses are key to unlocking the next great leap in human-oriented computing.

  • They enable digital experiences that are unconstrained by the limits of a smartphone screen. With large holographic displays, you can use the physical world as your canvas, placing 2D and 3D content and experiences anywhere you want.

  • They seamlessly integrate contextual AI that can sense and understand the world around you in order to anticipate and proactively address your needs.

  • They’re lightweight and great for both indoor and outdoor use, and they let people see each other’s face, eyes and expressions.

If you had to choose one main reason to be excited about AR glasses or consider AR glasses, what would it be?

The main reason is the barrier we establish when we have to communicate with other people who speak a different language.

That’s certainly something to admire with the new AI that translates everything in real time.

One reason would be the 3D experience and also watch a tv series or a match football in a large screen without disturb others in home😍

Ivyisme Oh man, I’m not sure. On the one hand, I would love not to need to carry a phone around with me all day, to pull me out of everything I’m doing all day long. But on the other hand, having something strapped to my face that is always on and gathering data about my environment doesn’t sound too great either lol.
I do the think the translation features and ability to quickly adapt to what I’m seeing sounds cool. We’ll just have to see what the next version looks like.

        Heyo

I hadn’t thought about that, I would practically be observing everything around you all the time… It’s like I never have privacy😳

I just need to take them off and put them back on whenever I need them, but it would be a lot of hassle to have to carry them in your hand or in your backpack and have to take them out every time you need them 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Franco_glz Yeah that would be tricky. Maybe if you treated them sort of like sunglasses, where you have them with you and pull them out when you need them but have them stored when you don’t? I’m not sure. It will be really interesting to see how it all sorts out.
