Apple Abandons Smart Ring Development After Years of Exploration In a recent update, Apple has reportedly abandoned its plans to develop a smart ring, after years of internal exploration. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, as cited by multiple media outlets, including TechNode, the tech giant has decided not to move forward with the project.
Meanwhile, Samsung introduced its first-ever smart ring, the Samsung Galaxy Ring, at Samsung Unpacked 2024 on July 10.
The Galaxy Ring captures key health metrics such as sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, and activity levels, with AI-powered insights available via the Samsung Health app. This makes Samsung the first major tech company to launch a smart ring. Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to launch in early 2025 which has been featured on Heyup’s coming soon section.
In October, Oura released its Oura Ring 4, earning high praise with a 9/10 score from media outlets for its advanced health tracking features.
