Hey+
Please check my updates at the end of this review.
My new heyplus watch arrived in a nice sturdy box.
Initial impression of the watch is that it is relatively light and has a flexible synthetic band. From band clasp to the last available hole in the band is 8 ¾″ or 223mm. The style and finish of the watch is equal to most current smartwatches I have seen. The display is crisp and bright. Very comfortable and looks good on my wrist.
The instruction sheet included in the box is easy to follow. In the box directly under the instruction sheet is the USB charger with a cool and super simple magnetic connector. Connecting to the watch back takes seconds and is very easy. I charged the watch initially and was impressed by the charging progression display.
While the watch was charging I searched my Iphone and installed the Heyplus app. Easy to download and easy to sign up. After the Heyplus watch was charged I synced it with my phone and was able to start setting up my watch preferences. I like how the watch will seamlessly sync with my Iphone for most applications. Heyplus has created an easy to follow app for the Iphone and Android. There’s also a great community Heyup website for support.
Customizing the watch face is very easy. One of my favorite features is the ability for the user to download a personal video clip as a watch face. My friends are wowed by this option.
As the days go by I find more surprises with this watch. Little reminders and cool notifications give a vibration and display for wellness and goals reached.
I was concerned about the watch display being bright enough in the Arizona sun. In full sun it’s not easy to see with the watch set fully bright. Anything less than full bright is very difficult to see in bright sunlight.
My findings on a few of the watch applications….
-Steps counter- Matches very closely to my Iphone. (It showed a large discrepancy one day after sawing tree branches. The watch was moving as my arm was moving and counted the movement as steps.)
-Heart rate- Comparing my heart rate to a commercial HRM it was identical.
-SPO2- Blood oxygen. Same as other tests.
-Sleep test- On the phone the sleep test showed an erroneous bedtime and wake up time. The sleep duration was accurate.
-Camera shutter- Works fine with very little delay.
The watch battery life is excellent. The first two days with the watch face at half brightness It was using 1% battery per day. At full brightness it’s using 4% per day.
Overall I would give this watch a 4.9 out of 5. It would benefit from a blood pressure monitor. With the help and support of Heyup I was able to figure out how to receive text messages. This watch supports water & dust resistance with IP68
Searching the internet for a watch of equal size and features I found similar watches for $30 to $50 USD.
Pro’s
This watch supports water & dust resistance with IP68
Personalization by using my own photos or video clips is great!
Watch build quality and watch band comfort are very good.
Display is bright and clear unless it’s a very bright day.
Watch applications open quickly.
Sync to the iphone is seamless.
Iphone Hey+ app is easy to use.
Magnetic USB charger is simple and easy to connect.
Battery life is excellent.
Con’s-None of these are deal breakers
Display is difficult to see on very bright days.
“Born to Brave” on the box is kind of odd. Not a phrase we use in the USA.
Also…
Watch sends notification of phone calls. No way to answer calls. (I don’t want to use my watch to answer calls) For me a Pro and for others who are looking to answer calls on their watch it’s possibly a Con.
The heyplus watch is a great watch overall. Fit and finish are excellent. It can be worn comfortably all day and night with no issues. Workout apps and health apps appear to be accurate. Battery life is very good. Clarity of the watch face is excellent unless it’s a very bright day. Ability to sync with a phone seamlessly is nice. Support and communication on the Heyup community is first rate. I continue to find more cool features each day that I wear the watch. The ability for the user to personalize the watch face makes the watch more personal and adds a dimension of fun!
*A quick update, after two weeks of wearing the heyplus watch on a daily basis the watch continues to impress. I’m getting text messages and phone prompts quickly. I’m also using full brightness on the display and have the phone raise to wake. I have attached a photo of the battery life. Pretty impressive especially since I wore it on a night time mountain bike very rough trail ride in the Arizona desert. The constant shaking of the bike kept the display on for most of the three hour ride. I’m happy to report-no issues.
*Three weeks in and another update. I ride mountain bikes on rough Az. desert trails. This time of year we ride at night as well. After a 28.5 mile VERY ROUGH and rocky desert ride my Heyup watch is still ticking away. (Pun intended) The vibration from the rocky terrain is enough to shake even the best electronic devices into failure. Plus it was 40C or 105 degrees when we started the ride.
Another thing I realized today is that the watch face is still perfect. I work on cars, boats, bicycles, etc. and watch faces don’t generally last very long without getting scratched or dinged in some way. Pretty impressive!
I also included an update to the battery life. 5 days since my last full charge and I still have 34% battery left. I’m tough on this watch and think this is very acceptable battery life. Plus it’s really easy to charge
Update: 9 months of wearing my heyplus watch everyday. The watch face is still perfect!!!!!!! I have had absolutely no issues with this watch and I wear it everywhere. Swimming, mountain biking, stand up Jet Skiing. The battery lasts for A LONG TIME on a charge. This watch is amazing 🤩
